February toy month!
This is an exciting time of year in the toy business. Every February, more than 1,000 manufacturers will unveil their latest offerings. We’ve been going there for years, and it is always very interesting and a lot of fun, as long as you don’t get snowed in! Kumon Books!
The new year has begun shipments we have received is a wonderful selection of Kumon books. Parents are always looking for ways to enhance their children’s education that are fun and interesting. The Kumon Method is a very well established and proven educational tool. At the heart of the Kumon Method is the belief that all children are capable of greatness. With the help of their parents, family and friends, children can develop in ways that will humble and amaze you!
In 1954, Toru Kumon began to teach his eldest son due to his problems in mathematics at school. Kumon developed the Kumon Method. In 1956, Kumon opened the first Kumon Center in Osaka,Japan with the help of parents that were interested in the Method. In 1958, he founded the Kumon Institute of Education, after which Kumon Centers began to open around the world. Kumon is a math and reading enrichment program. Students do not work together as a class, but progress through the curriculum at their own pace, moving on to the next level when they have achieved mastery of the previous level.
KUMON WORKBOOKS introduce basic learning skills to children aged 2 and up. Subjects covered include early learning and fine motor control skills; verbal skills; and math skills.
THE KUMON METHOD is what makes these workbooks so unique and effective. This Method is a proven learning system developed to help each child reach his or her full potential. Concepts are introduced in a step-by-step manner that allows the child to master each in turn without getting frustrated. Advent Calendars are Here!
As the Holidays are approaching, many families are looking for Advent calendars. An Advent calendar is a special calendar which is used to count or celebrate the days o f Advent in anticipation of Christmas!
Today, most Advent calendars are made for children. Many take the form of a large rectangular card with “windows” of which there are often 24; one for each day of December leading up to Christmas Day.
One is opened every day during Advent. In many of these calendars, each window opens to reveal an image, a poem. More elaborate Advent calendars have a small gift concealed in each window, such as a toy.
This year’s Advent calendars are super fun, with themes from Playmobil ( Pony Ranch, Chistmas Post Office, Dino Expedition, and Dragon Land), and Lego ( City, and the much anticipated Star Wars!) We also tradional European card stock Advent’s with merry themes and lots of glitter. Which one will be your favorite this year? Chanukah begins December 20th. As both Holidays approach, many customers are asking for Holiday themed wrapping paper, and we are ready!
